Prescriptions & Pharmacy Information

Using the NHS App

Did you know you can manage repeat prescriptions from our practice in the NHS App?

You can easily choose where your prescriptions are sent. So, if you know you’ll be away from home or you are moving home, you can change your nominated pharmacy from within the app.

You can also order your prescription at any time that suits you. There’s no need to wait to join a telephone queue or wait until the GP surgery opens, you have 24/7 access to your prescription.

The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions are:

Your NHS App / Web account show you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose which medication you need to order. You can also check the progress of your prescription via your account so you know when to collect it from your nominated pharmacy

You can also fill out a repeat prescriptions request form, bring the paper form to the surgery, Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm or post it in our postbox, outside next to the main entrance

We do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone.

We aim to get all prescriptions actioned within 48 hours, this does not mean your prescription is ready to collect, we can only sign off your medication the pharmacy will then need to prepare it once the GP has signed off your medication.

You can usually collect your prescription from the pharmacy 3 to 5 working days after you have ordered it (pharmacy dependent).

You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.

You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:

  • on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
  • at your GP practice
  • at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

If you would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription, phone reception after 10:00 am on 01606 544850 and ask to speak to our practice pharmacy team.

If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. A medication review usually involves a blood test and a quick telephone consultation with a clinician.

We will contact you, when / if you need to have a medication review
